My Top 10 Reverse Bucket List

If you're anything like me, you've probably created a bucket list of all the grand accomplishments you'd like to fulfill in your lifetime.  My own bucket list isn't particularly unique.  It includes sky diving, running a marathon, climbing Mt. Fuji, and writing and publishing a novel worthy of the New York Times best-sellers list.  I've always thought it was a pretty respectable bucket list.  But the more awe-inspiring bucket lists I read, the more boring mine becomes.

So today I'm creating a new list: my REVERSE bucket list.  Instead of coming up with new exciting things I want to do, I now have a list of things I NEVER want to do.  Here is my...

Top 10 Reverse Bucket List

10)  Drive a mini van

9)  Run for public office

8)  Eat raw horse meat

7)  Get a body piercing in a location other than my ears or belly button

6)  Learn how to sew, knit, crochet or any other brand of craftiness that would cause me to open an Etsy shop

5)  Participate in a polar plunge

4) Learn to speak Mandarin Chinese

3)  Audition for American Idol, Survivor, or any other silly reality show

2)  Attempt to live vicariously through my children in a pathetic attempt to grasp my unfulfilled childhood dreams

1)  Join the military  {Washing my husband's uniforms is about as close as I'm ever going to get to wearing one.  Nothing against the military, I'm just not cut out for it.}

What's on your reverse bucket list?

This post was inspired by the writing prompt goddess Mama Kat and her famous Writer's Workshop.

  1. My husband eats raw horse. It's pretty popular around here but I won't touch it!

  2. Although I didn't list any of these things on my list, I never plan to do any of them either!

  3. I'm the opposite! I'd love a mini-van right now!

  4. OOoh! Driving a minivan or running for public office should definitely have been contenders on my list. I can't believe I didn't even think of those things! I'm forever swearing off the MiniVan Mafia. I even went so far as to say I'd stop having kids if meant a mini van (jokingly of course....of course...heh...)

  7. I almost put joining the military on my reverse bucket list. I'm proud of my hubby but it's not for me. And #10 made me laugh out loud...I'm with you there!

  9. I'm totally with you on #6. As hard as I've tried, crafts and I just don't get along. Just ask my drawer full of yarns and needles that'll never amount to anything. LOL

  10. Well, I've now learned to sew...and I did actually audition for AI, but I didn't get past the first round. SoldierMan spent the rest of the day cursing the judges (he was the one who talked me into doing it, too) so that made it okay. :) But that was DEFINITELY on my reverse bucket list! The AI, not the sewing. I'm kind of addicted to my machine now. Poor bank account. So is driving a minivan, which is why we bought The Beast.

  11. This was great! I keep saying I'm going to create my bucket list, someday I'll get to it!

Raw horse meat...um, do people actually eat that? Yuck.
And joining the military, yup never going to happen here either. I much prefer my milspouse role and am happy to serve here! I wouldn't do to well with someone yelling at me, I'd start crying and then get yelled at some more! That and I can't do a push-up to save my life.

  13. I would have a lot of the same although I would drive a minivan :) I decided recently that I am never going to learn to sew. My mom can do it and I admire it but I don't think I will ever do it.
