Top 10 Reasons Why I Don't Feel As Old As I Am (Revisited)

As I mentioned yesterday, my birthday is this week.  Last year I dedicated my birthday top 10 list to the reasons why I don't feel as old as I am.  And I had every intention of renewing that optimism by writing a Part 2 to that list today, but unforutnately, I couldn't come up with 10 more reasons.

So I'm just going to plagiarize myself and re-post last year's top 10 list with a few minor revisions.  Hopefully this will help me channel some of my prior positivity about aging!

Here are my...

Top 10 Reasons Why I Don't Feel As Old As I Am (Revisited)

10)  I can still get away with not wearing makeup in public.

9) I still get carded whenever I purchase alcohol. (Yes, I know the Wal-Mart cashiers card everyone, but work with me here.)

8) Kelly Clarkson and Lady Gaga are regulars on my iPod (in between bands that date me beyond my age like Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles).

7) Facebook friends tell me I look exactly the same as I did in high school.

6) I just signed up for my 3rd half marathon.

5) I don't drink cofffee. I don't know why, but for some reason I feel like this is just one small way I have avoided a step into adulthood.

4) I don't drive a mini-van. (Sorry to all you mini-van owners, but I will never drive one.)

3) My children can't outrun me. Yet.

2) No grey hairs. Yet.

1) My father is still my Daddy, and I'm still his Sweet Pea.

Do you feel your age?  Why or why not?

  1. Happy Birthday Week!!!
I listen to a TON of music that ages me well beyond my years. The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, David Bowie, anything 80's... And I'm only 20! haha :D

i think youre incredibly lucky with the make-up situation! i have to wear make up otherwise i look like a ghost, and im eighteen!!
these are all very good reasons for not being classed as 'old'.

remember, youre only as old as you feel! :)

  3. Geez. I drink coffee and found my first genuinely gray hair on Thanksgiving last year. But I will also never drive a mini-van. Ever. :)

  4. LOL I drink coffee, drive a minivan, and have a few gray hairs... So I guess that means I don't feel my age because I'm 27! Me and Hubby like to joke that we're old folks though. Happy birthday youngster!

  5. Not wanting to rain on your parade but you're lucky! I don't need makeup cuz I'm aging rapidly but cuz really I look heinous if I don't. Hubby's car is being fixed for an indefinite amount of time and he has mine. So I've had to resort to borrowing my father's minivan. And I too swore I would never drive one. Boo :( For the time being all my children can outrun me. But hey I'm carrying another child so I guess that's to be expected right? As far as grey hairs, how on earth did you manage to avoid that? I found my first one a few months back. Boo to that one for real!

  7. I feel my age because...

...on my 29th birthday, I found my first gray hair (and yanked it out).
...I've put on weight since high school.
...poor use of sunscreen has given me a LOT of wrinkles.
...I officially have dancer's hip and runner's knee on both sides. My joints are a one-man band.
...I drive a station wagon (aka, Minivan Lite).

But I really like being this age. I'm also smarter, happier, and stronger than I have ever been, and I don't think I'd trade that for younger looks. :)

  9. Okay....Happy Birthday Week again;)

I think I have enough gray hairs for you and me both this year! But, my gray hairs confuse me, because I still get carded when buying drinks too!

And you DO NOT look your age! Promise!!!!!!
