Help Me Brainstorm Please!

I'm trying to work on topics, and I need your help to brainstorm ideas...

If you're a military spouse, what kinds of topics do you like to read about?  Are there military-related issues you'd like to learn more about?  Do you have concerns about your own experiences with deployments that you'd like to see addressed?

If you have no affiliation with the military, is there anything about military life that piques your interest?  Do you wonder how deployments affect military families?  Do you wonder what kinds of challenges we face being married to the military?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I like reading about how military couples balance two careers. And only because I don't see it as often, I like reading about how other National Guard/Reserves families balance deployments and "active" duty with civilian life. I wish I was more creative with ideas!

  2. Maybe things to think about when they come home from a deployment. Me and some of my friends were just talking about that the other day that it's almost harder when they come back cause you so use with them being gone... And most of us ''paint this picture'' in our heads how things are going to be when they come home, and most of the time it's not that way...

Or maybe what to think about when you have children and daddy (or mommy) is deployed and how it effect them...

I will think about other stuff... :)

  6. Yes, I would like topics that are typically "non traditional" for the military community.

Such as being childless by choice while being active duty (a lonely place I think).

I also second the comment about balancing two careers.

Many times I see things directed towards a single income, SAHM situation.

  8. The only thing I can think of is tips for moving OCONUS. We have several friends moving here (Japan) that have asked for tips and din't find anything really usual.

Other than that, I have no idea.

  9. Advice on how to balance your job with your husband's while he's home, advice on how to build credit while constantly moving both for one's self and one's spouse; it would also be nice to be able to find advise on just the basics of militay life for the spouse, i.e. who to talk to about pay problems, what paperwork can be done by us with the proper POA, what is expected of us by the branch our spouse is part of(i.e., what are the things an E6's wife is expected to do vs. a PFC's wife vs. an Officer's wife), what protocols should we follow i.e. when(if ever) is ok to have the CO or 1st STG over for dinner, proper clothing to wear on post, how to address personal you meet while on post, etc, etc.
