Top 10 Reasons Why I Don't Feel as Old as I Am

Last month I posted my list of Top 10 Signs That I'm Getting Older.  Since this week I'm celebrating my birthday by writing about my ambivalence toward the aging process, I thought today I'd investigate the more positive sign of my increased age.  So here are my...

Top 10 Reasons Why I Don't Feel as Old as I Am

10) I can still get away with not wearing makeup in public.

9)  I still get carded whenever I purchase alcohol.  (Yes, I know the Wal-Mart cashiers card everyone, but work with me here.)

8)  Kelly Clarkson and Lady Gaga are regulars on my iPod (in between bands that date me beyond my age like Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles).

7)  Facebook friends tell me I look exactly the same as I did in high school.

6)  Since my last birthday, I have run a half marathon and competed in a 3.5 mile open water swim.

5)  I don't drink cofffee.  I don't know why, but for some reason I feel like this is just one small way I have avoided a step into adulthood.

4)  I don't drive a mini-van.  (Sorry to all you mini-van owners, but I will never drive one.)

3)  My children can't outrun me.  Yet.

2)  No grey hairs.  Yet.

1)  My father is still my Daddy, and I'm still his Sweet Pea.

What tops your list?

  2. Oh I love this! I don't drink coffee either and my mom is my mama and my dad my daddy and pops. How sweet! You're lucky though, I started getting grays at 16. Bleh.

  3. I would say the fact that I can still wear mini skirts and flip flops and people don't look at me funny.

I love that you do a Top Ten list on Tuesdays...I've been trying to think of something like this for my blog.

  4. I like to say, "I may be getting older, but I'll always be immature."

Age ain't nothin' but a number. Happy Birthday.

  6. Great list. You know the phrase you are as old as you feel? I just tell that one ever so slightly differently as "you are as old as the person you are feeling...." so that makes me six years younger, cradle snatcher that I am :-)

  7. haha!! I loved all your answers! And I'm only 23 but I look like I'm about 16...last month when my sis had her baby the nurses asked me "sweetie are you at least 18?" as my mom and I were entering the maternity ward to visit my sis...I couldn't believe it and my mom and i just laughed as I told them I was 23. :) But the way I figure it is: if we look this young now, we will only look about 25 by the time were 40! yay for that!! lol! Hope you have a good birthday and congrats on all your accomplishments! :)

  8. Lucky you with the no gray hair thing. I've had gray hairs since I turned 21. Luckily I've been dying my hair since I was 18, so no one has noticed yet :)

  9. I can still get up without farting, like my poor grandma used to, so I guess that'll have to do (snatching at straws, but that's how it gets when you get up there...)

  15. Those are great reasons why you still are young. Keep up the marathons and the non-coffee beverages and you'll probably still look and feel the same in 10+ years :)

  18. I have one in the opposite way.. I'm 20.. married and busy all the time.. Most 20 yr olds are partying it up every night, but I have a real life with meaning and a purpose.. Physically I'm young, mentally i'm ahead of my time.
